Item Routings are used to inform the modeling software on which routings to direct the flow of each item. Within the Item Routing menu, the user will select an item and assign a routing to which that will flow through. Each item must have at least one routing assigned to it although, an item may have more than one routing assigned to it.
To Create an Item Routing:

Item Routing Data Element Description
Data Element | Description | Constraints |
---|---|---|
Description | Description of the Item Routing | |
Item | Selection of a pre-defined item | Items |
Routing | Selection of a pre-defined routing | Routings |
Fraction Releases (%) | If an item has multiple routings, this value indicates the percentage of the demand that flows through each routing. Note, if an item has multiple routings, ensure the fraction of releases sum to 100. If this sum is greater than 100, extra demand will be placed on the production system for that item. For example: Item Routing 1 = Item 1 through Routing 1 at 50% Fraction of Release Item Routing 2 = Item 1 through Routing 2 at 50% Fraction of Release If demand for item 1 is 10 units per week, 5 units per week will flow through Routings 1 and 2 | 0 – 100 |
