Unit of Measure

A unit of measure (UOM) represents the type of items moving through a product flow. A UOM is assigned to each item defined in the model. UOMs support each item to be measured in consistent unit values, or in units that have a consistent factor of transformation between the unit values. This enables accurate reporting of production analytics like demand, throughput, capacity, work-in-process and cycle time for all production units within a product flow.

To Create a Unit of Measure:

  1. Open the Data Entry pane on the left side of the User Interface
  2. Select Unit of Measure
  3. Select the +button and fill in the input fields
  4. Select Create

To Edit an Existing Unit of Measure:

  1. Double-click the UOM or select the UOM and then select the pen button
  2. Edit the input fields and select Close

To Edit an Existing UOM Conversion :

  1. Double click the product flow or select the product flow and then select the pen button
  2. Edit the input fields and select Close

To Delete an Existing UOM Conversion:

  1. Select the routing and then select the button

Unit of Measure Conversion

A unit of measure (UOM) conversion entry is only required when a product flow has items with different units of measure.  The user needs to pick one unit of measure for the product flow, and setup conversions for the other units of measure. The format of the conversion screen is to enter a From UOM and a To UOM with a conversion factor. Here, the conversion is from the “Units” UOM to the “Each” UOM using a conversion factor of “12”.  Hence, there are 12 “Units” per “Each”. Note that the user only needs to setup a conversion between two UOMs as one pair.  The system will automatically calculate the pair in the other direction.

To Create a UOM Conversion:

  1. Open the Data Entrypane on the left side of the User Interface
  2. Select Unit of Measure Conversions
  3. Select the +button and fill in the input fields
  4. Select Create
